Congratulations to Dennis Derringer winner of the Programmer of the Year Award 2002. Dennis has written an excellent document imaging program for Agency Technologies (www.agencytechnologies.com) which handles the indexing of documents in an efficient, robust and easy-to-use professional manner. The application enables documents and other files to be scanned, cleaned up, indexed and retrieved.
Dennis agrees that the hardest part of a project like this is interfacing with scanners and making sure that all images, both color and black and white are presented legibly and quickly. Dennis states that he appreciates the Corporate Suite's scanning features, which are multithreaded and therefore, speed up the rate of pages per minute while conserving memory through the handling of TIFF CCITT 4 and Multi page Tiff images.
This energetic high tech programmer states:
"One of the greatest challenges to programmers in the Document Imaging field is the handling of older faxed documents which can be difficult to read and inundated with black dots. SkyLine meets this challenge by enhancing all documents with its Anti Aliasing, Deskew and Despeckle features which clean, straighten and enhance documents so they may be presented in a highly legible fashion. "
Dennis accomplishes the indexing of documents by entering key information into four text and two numeric user-defined fields. The field headings change based on the type of document being stored. Six other file headings create user-defined fields Document Type, Description, Document Date, Indexed Date, Operator and Notes.
Mr. Derringer appreciates Skyline's scanning components which allowed him to implement some "smart" scanning options like automatically detecting blank pages when using a full-duplex ADF scanner.
